A pneumatic yarn splicing device has yarn end prepn. action. There are jets to untwist the yarn, and having saw tooth edges to assist in sepg. the fibres. The splicer (1) is fitted to a winder by the body (2), and there is other equipment on the machine to operate the insertion of broken ends, and the removal when repaired. The splicer head (3) has a channel (4) for the yarns. This is closed by the cover (5). The airjets (6,7,8,9) are for this part of the operation. The side tubes (10,11) and channels (12,13) take the ends of yarn (16,17), which also lie in the splicing channel (4). ADVANTAGE - Fewer fibres are lost from the untwisted ends, which are regular and held firmly, in prepn. for splicing. The design is suitable for hard twisted yarns and cords.
