A system for recovering vapour emerging from a tank, (12), to which liquid is being delivered wherein a vapour pump (24) sucks vapour from the tank with a volumetric flow that is equal to the volumetric flow of the liquid as modified in dependance upon signals indicative of the temperature of liquid entering the tank and vapour in the tank, so as to compensate for the change in volume of the emerging vapour (15) caused by heat exchange with the liquid entering the tank, and apparatus (26) for measuring the actual vapour flow and adjusting the volumetric flow of the vapour pump so that it is equal to the flow required for ideal compensation. <IMAGE>
