A load/force sensor (1) has a twin beam deflecting element (2) of aluminium alloy having a rectangular cross-section which is supported as a cantilever at a first end (3) within a corrosion resistant steel housing (5) of similar cross-section with sealed ends (11, 12) and provided with strain gauges. The second end (4) of the deflecting element (2) carries a load applicator (6) which is sealed wrt the housing (5) by rustless steel membranes (7, 8). The centre space (18) of the deflecting element (2) contains a flexible metallic piston type bellows unit (20, 21) filled with a fluid which exerts a damping influence on any oscillations initiated by the load or by external vibration. USE/ADVANTAGE - Fully sealed construction, which minimises effects of pressure, temperature, humidity or aggressive atmospheres and solvents. Damping enables use in high speed weighing installations eg in foodstuffs packaging industry.
