The mechanism (1) has a supporting body (2) accommodating a first roller (3), onto which the tape (5) is wound, together with a separating tape (6) into a coil (4). A second roller (10) applies the tape to the material (11) and at the same time detaches the separating tape from it. A third roller (12) moves from the body towards the material, parting the adhesive tape off in the process. The mechanism can be driven over the material, parting taking place while the body is in motion. The third roller can be pneumatically operated, and there can be a fourth roller at the side of the tape, moved towards the material together with the third, the tape between them being applied to the material. USE/ADVANTAGE - Precise parting of unsupported tape used in gluing machine.
