The inside of the vehicle door has a moulded armrest (3) leading to an inclined front section (4) which serves as a handgrip for closing the door. The window operating switches (7,8,9,10) are mounted in a compact array in the handgrip and are gripped by the whole hand. Each switch is pressed up or down against spring return pressure to operate the corresponding window. The outer, vertical faces of the switches have recesses for finger-grip operation. The switch array is mounted in a clear plastic frame which is illuminated. ADVANTAGE - Tactile recognition of ergonomically positioned switches, obviating need to view.
