The prosthesis includes a cotylar component including a hemispherical cavity, which may be implanted in the surface of a first bone. A shaft (10) is insertable in the medullary canal of a second bone and is articulated to the cotylar component via a removable intermediate joint pin (11). The sleeve consists of a conical tail section (30) which cooperates with an axial hollow cavity (25) in the shaft component, and an intermediate neck portion (32). The neck portion is extended to define a spherical head (33) which cooperates with the hemispherical cavity of the cotylar component. ADVANTAGE - Simplified implantation procedure, with reduced risk of bone weakening and implant loosening.
