PREPARATION OF GIBBERELLIN BY FERMENTATION

PURPOSE:To prepare gibberellin by culturing fungi belonging to Gibberella genus. CONSTITUTION:Fungi belonging to Gibberella genus and capable of producing gibberellin, e.g. Gebberella fujikuroi G-2 (FERM-P No.4854), are inoculated in a medium containing an agent which inhibits the biosynthesis of ent-kaurenoic-19- acid, e.g. CCC, AMO-1618, N,N,N-trimethyl-methyl-3-(3',3',5'-trimethylcyclohexyl)-2-propenylammo nium iodide, etc. and steviol, and cultured aerobically at 20-40 deg.C and pH3.5-5.0. The accumulated gibberellins such as gibberellin A, gibberellin A18, gibberellin A19, 13-hydroxygibberellin A12, etc. are separated from the medium.
