PURPOSE:To provide a character preparing device capable of shortening a data reading time and saving memory. CONSTITUTION:At each inputted KANJI (chinese character), by an element pattern data read part 11, the data of an element pattern constituting the KANJI is read out from an element pattern data part 12. When the read out data are the data of the size and the position of the element pattern, by an area calculation part 13, an area where all element patterns constituting the KANJI occupy is calculated. When the read out data is an element pattern code, in an element pattern character shape generation part 14, by the element pattern code, the data of a basic stroke constituting the element pattern is retrieved from a stroke data part 16. From the retrieved data and the result of area calculation, the basic stroke is generated. The generated image data is stored in a character image data buffer part 15. After all element patterns constituting the KANJI are generated, they are displayed on a display part 18. |
