The lighter or lamp consists of one or more tubes or containers (1, 2, 3), each with a separate wick (8, 9, 10) of ceramic or glass fibres, cotton or hemp, immersed in a fuel which burns with a coloured flame. The tubes or containers can be made from glass, pottery or enamelled metal, mounted on a base and with the wick supports attached by an adhesive of a type used for aquariums. The fuel is alcohol-based, coloured with a metal or boron ester. The flames can be ignited by a flint and wheel (7), while a cover (12) can extinguish the flames and prevent evaporation of the fuel.
