PURPOSE:To form a character shape adopting an intention on design and easy to make out even when the number of pixels necessary for displaying a character is insufficient compared to the complexity of the character shape. CONSTITUTION:By a character generation means 10, when it is known that the size of a required character is smaller than a correction limit size by comparing the required character with the correction limit size 16 described in character data 14, first of all, the character shape larger than the correction limit size is generated in an image memory 9. Then, a horizontal correction template 20 is read in and the arrangement of the pixel is rearranged by using an OR circuit 8 accorsing to the change of 0/1 of the bit of the value. At this time, while the same value of the bit in the template is continued, the pixel group aligning on the same straight line in a horizontal direction is superposing- processed. Further, when the bit value is changed in the template, the superposing-processed pixel group is recorded as the new pixel group. Similar processing is executed by using a vertical correction template 19 in a vertical direction, as well and the character is reduced to the required size. |
