The following are claimed: (1) the scientific, industrial and therapeutic use of elements of the process of optimising the expression of genes by action on the coding or noncoding regions; (2) the use of the process to improve not the expression of the genes (yields) but the fuctionalities of the proteins (by mutations of synonymous codons in the translated part of the gene); (3) any use based on a method derived from the global order of genes (in the spirit of the claims in the patent entitled 'Process for analysing the global order of DNA and RNA sequences'); (4) the use of the described applications for industrial purposes (artificial blood, chimeric genes, biomaterials) or gene therapy (cancer, AIDS, genetic diseases, etc.); and (5) the use of the optimisation of the title 'gene primer'(nucleic acid probes). In an example, it is suggested that replacement of certain codons in the interleukin-6 gene (PT911) by degenerate codons (i.e. coding for the same amino acid) will alter resonances within the gene and probably result in increased protein expression.
