In the processing of continuous yarn material as a bundle, such as through a caustic soda or mercerising fluid, the yarn bundle is held at a constant length or has a tension applied to it. The continuous yarn bundle is mangled and, after mangling, is continuously neutralised. During neutralising, the yarn bundle is pref. held at a constant length, or a tension is applied. The caustic soda or mercerising fluid is at 5-35 deg. Be and esp. 5-22 deg. Be or 24-32 deg. Be, at a temp. of 5-20 deg. C, and esp. 8-15 deg. C. During processing and/or during neutralisation, the continuous yarn bundle is extended by 0.1-15.0% and esp. 2-10%, and is cladded with at least one coiled yarn for stability using the same material as a twisted yarn to twist one or more bundles with a twist of 2-400 twists/m and pref. 10-100 twists/m. The yarn bundle is composed of 2-200 yarns, and pref. 10-100. Each yarn is singed before being bundled. USE/ADVANTAGE - THe technique is for teatment of yarn bundles in a caustic soda or mercerising fluid where the yarn bundle loop has a dia of 40-60 cm, with a continuous action and effective neutralising.
