Each pin (e.g. 12b) is connected to earth through a tubular capacitor formed by inner and outer coatings (22b,23b) on a ceramic tube. The inner surface is contacted by three conductive elastic tongues (e.g. 33,34) bowed outwards between two parallel rings (31,32) around the enlarged centre (14b) of the pin. The outer surface is earthed through an element (24) set into a connection (26) with the external coating. The tongues are distributed uniformly around the upper and lower rings which they interconnect. ADVANTAGE - Loss of reliability through decline of up to 30% in value of cracked tubular capacitors is eliminated.
