PURPOSE:To prevent the retreat of an ink meniscus due to the pressure fluctuation of a head section and stabilize the printing by installing a cut-off valve cutting off the back flow of at least ink on its midway of a tube fed to an ink tank. CONSTITUTION:A cut-off valve 22 is mounted between an ink supply tube 21 connecting a head 1 and an ink tank 26 and an ink supply tube 23. When an ink-jet printer is brought to the state of printing as it is after the completion of ink suction operation, the cut-off valve 22 is brought to a closed state as it is without being opened for a fixed time. When ink is absorbed from the nozzle of the head 1 and pressure in a cap 5 is returned to atmospheric pressure at that time, the cut-off valve 22 set up between the ink supply tubes 21, 23 is closed, and the ink of the tubes 21, 23 is interrupted. Accordingly, even when a sudden pressure fluctuation is generated near the nozzle in the cap 5, an ink meniscus is not retreated, thus preventing an adverse effect on the printing of the head 1. |
