PURPOSE:To prepare the subject food having excellent drug action by drying and sterilizing the fruit body of Grifola frondosa using a specific method. CONSTITUTION:Fruit body of Grifola frondosa belonging to the family Polyporaceae, order Aphyllophorales is dried at <=50 deg.C and crushed. The obtained dry powder is suspended in water and brought into contact with water at 0-40 deg.C for >=10min and the water-insoluble material is separated with a press, etc., to obtain an extract liquid. The liquid is freeze-dried to obtain the objective food as an tasteless and odorless light brown powder having a molecular weight of about 12,000, exhibiting strong absorption at 280nm and having a protein content of 98%.
