PURPOSE:To obtain a simple and easy water current generation device by dividing a case into two sections, holding water tightness and installing a drive device to the upper part of the case and a water jet generation device to the lower part. CONSTITUTION:A water current generation mechanism section A, which constitutes a water jet generation device, comprises an engine 12 in an upper case 1A and a screw drive device and a flow straightener in a lower case 1B where the case 1A is connected to the case 1B in water tightness. A screw blade 21 is mounted to a screw shaft. A plurality of straightening vanes 24 and 25 are installed to the screw blade 21 directed at a shaft center while a large number of water stream holes 9 are bored on the rear side of the lower case 1B the water stream holes are bored on the sides in a similar manner. Then, the case 1A which houses the engine 12 is installed so that it may be located above the surface of the water while the case 1B which houses the screw 21 is installed so that it may be submerged in the water. The water current pushed by the screw blade is a turbulent flow, but it is turned into a straightened flow with the straightening vanes 24 and 25.
