PURPOSE:To inexpensively produce a zirconia powder for thermal spray by drying and calcining a hydrate sol of zirconia obtd. from a mixed aq. solution of metallic compd. and a zirconium salt. CONSTITUTION:A zirconia hydrate sol obtd. by neutralizing or hydrolyzing a mixed aq. solution of at least one kind of metallic compds. being >=2 valent and a zirconium salt is dried to form a granular gel, which is calcined at 1000 deg.-1500 deg.C. The zirconia powder for thermal spray thus producible in few processes is inexpensive, the purity bears comparison with conventionalones, and it doesn't generate any breakage due to carrying gases and is excellent in the fluidity. |
