PURPOSE:To suppress mechanical deformation such as warp, to improve mechanical characteristics, to attain excellent adhesive strength of a dielectric layer to a recording layer, to prevent the exfoliation and cracking of the layers and to ensure reliability over a long period of time. CONSTITUTION:In an optical recording medium with a substrate, a recording layer and a dielectric layer, the dielectric layer is made of a composite contg. at least a chalcogen compd., a nitride and carbon. In the case of an optical recording medium capable of repeated recording and erasing, the extent of transfer of the material of the recording layer to the track direction is reduced and repetitive characteristics of recording and erasing is improved. |
