The system is for a cutting or shaping tool (22), esp. a twist-drill, milling cutter, reamer etc. The tool is inserted in a chuck (18), the two being then fitted in a tool-holder (12) and secured by a clamping nut (28). At the same time an outlet (42) in the nut is connected to a supply system (38,40,60) for the coolant and/or lubricant. The tool-holder fits detachably in a mounting (16), and the coolant and/or lubricant is directed under pressure from the outlet onto the tool, typically at the end furthest from the tool-holder. USE/ADVANTAGE - Tool-cooling and lubricating system is of low overall height, and easy and rapid fitting and removal.
