The electric toothbrush has a rotating "prop shaft" in the handle with bevel gears at the head to drive the brush, which is detachable. The brush itself is formed from a number of tufts on a disk-shaped carrier. The underside of the carrier has a collar with a recess which is off-centre with respect to the axis. This recess engages with the driving peg on the bevel gear. The recess has two parallel side walls and two curved end walls, one of which has a curve centre at the axis of symmetry. Each side wall has one groove and one rib. ADVANTAGE - Improved torque transmission between "prop shaft" and head, therefore giving improved cleaning force.
