In the wet press section of a paper-making machine, the deg. of the parallelogram-type tension applied to the blanket (11) is registered by sensors (12), for the control to modify the blanket movement path. On reaching a max. tension on the blanket, the system switches between a blanket extension and contraction movement. Also claimed is an appts. with a rotating carrier (3) coupled to a gear-motor unit (6). The mounting of the roller mantle (2) is eccentric, at least at one end, in relation to the carrier axis (4). The motor unit (6) is connected to the sensors (12) through the control (14). On the blanket movement path, one outer edge is extended and shortened, in steps, in relation to the other outer edge to maintain a given blanket (1) movement speed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The system is for the operation of the blanket in the wet press section of a papermaking machine, to extract water from the wet fibre pulp for conversion into paper. The method gives an improved action, with reduced oscillation at the blanket in operation.
