PURPOSE:To reduce the average power consumption while keeping the connection delay fixed by changing the intermittent reception period in accordance with the reception quality of a received signal. CONSTITUTION:The quality of the received signal is measured by a reception quality measuring instrument 43, and the result is reported to a controller 44. The controller 44 determines the intermittent reception period in accordance with the quality and sets the next reception timing to a timer 45. The timer 45 turns off a switch 47 till the time, when a receiver should be operated, to prevent the consumption of a battery 46. When the time arrives to operate the receiver, the timer 45 turns on the switch 47 and informs the controller 44 that it is the set time. The controller 44 decodes the signal received by a transmitter-receiver 42 and discriminates whether a call comes to its own portable radio machine or not. |
