The rack and pinion steering box (24) is located laterally with an output (23) along a horizontal axis YY' parallel to the vehicle plane of symmetry (P). The output (23) drives , through a pivoted rod (22), the end of a lever (20) which pivots about a vertical axis (ZZ') located in the vehicle plane of symmetry. The lever (20) has two other pivot points (19,19a), located either side the plane of symmetry, each of which take a connecting rod (18,18a) controlling steering of a wheel. Each wheel steering control rod is pivoted at its other end on a ball joint (4,4a) at the end of the control lever (3,3a) on the stub axle or its support (2,2a) of a wheel (1). USE/ADVANTAGE - Steering control of industrial vehicles is located in an alternative position to the usual central part of the vehicle.
