PURPOSE:To eliminate the misreading and the occurrence of error without affecting the read processing even with the magnetic data that are written with inclination and even at a magnetic stripe part having a high writing density. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic data reading/writing device reads a magnetic stripe part 12 by a magnetic head 13 which contains a magnetic data reading/writing element set on a sliding surface against the part 12 of a medium 11. Three pairs of reading/writing elements are set on a straight line orthogonal to the moving direction of the head 13. Then, the center of of these three pairs is used for the main data with other two pairs used for the timing marks, respectively. A timing recognizing means 16a of a control part 16 calculates the intermediate value between the read values of both timing marks of two pairs of timing mark element and also recognizes the intermediate value as the read value of a true timing mark. |
