TUNING DEVICE FOR MICROWAVE DIELECTRIC RESONATORS AND FILTERS

Tuning device allowing adjusting within a broad range the resonance frequency of a cylindrical dielectric resonator (1) is described. Tuning is performed by sliding a dielectric tuning cylinder in a hole (2, 5) which starts from the cylindrical surface of the resonator. Sliding the cylinder is done by rotating a screw cemented to the cylinder and which screws into a hole in the wall of a guide which includes the resonator. There is also described a microwave filter comprising several of the tuning devices which are the object of the present invention and consisting of a section of cylindrical guide (10) in which are aligned along their cylindrical symmetry axis several radially drilled cylindrical dielectric resonators (1, 4). The resonators are held in position in the guide by spacer strips (7, 8) of dielectric material having appropriate recesses into which are forced the resonators.
