In a baler having a baling chamber 4 and a tying device including a movable needle 5 and a knotter 3, a clamping device 7 capable of clamping a twine 10 passed from the baling chamber to the knotter is located on the bale side of the knotter. As shown two clamping devices are provided each comprising a dog 27, 28 biased by springs 31 against a guide member 26 in the baling chamber. The dogs 27, 28 are urged into a non-clamping position by a cam 34 attached to an arm 33 carrying the needle 5. The cam 34 acts on rods 29, 30 carrying the dogs 27, 28 through a pivoted lever 35 carrying an adjusting screw 36. |
