PURPOSE:To obtain a heat-bondable fiber having excellent processability and exhibiting good water-repellency by applying specific weights of a silicone-based treating agent and an amine-based treating agent to the surface of a heat- bondable fiber composed of a specific component. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber is produced by applying a lubricant containing (A) 25-50wt.% (based on the active component of the lubricant) of a silicone-based treating agent (preferable example: dimethylpolysiloxane) and (B) 10-40wt.% of an ethylene oxide-added alkylamine-based treating agent of formula (R is 8-22C alkyl; m+n is 5-40) to the surface of a heat-bondable fiber containing a polyolefin polymer accounting for >=50wt.% of the heat-bondable fiber and a thermoplastic polymer having a melting point of 50-200 deg.C as the heat-bondable component. The fiber has excellent processability in the form of raw stock and in the production process of nonwoven fabric. The nonwoven fabric produced from the fiber has excellent water-repellency and is suitable as a race cover or paper diaper, etc. The polyolefin is preferably a modified polyolefin produced by copolymerizing an unsaturated carboxylic acid, etc., with an alpha-olefin such as ethylene. |
