PURPOSE:To detect size of a document in a document feeding direction by a document reading part when the document reading part is moved in a transferring document reading position. CONSTITUTION:When judgement of mode as reading the transferring document is made by the document placing, the document reading mechanism part 14 is moved to the transferring document reading position 14c. At a position of 14b in the middle of the move, judgement is made of the existence of the transferring document over a through hole 12 for detecting document length disposed on a document platen 11. In accordance with this judgement and result of detecting width direction of the document, obtained separately, the size of the document is detected. |
