The deformable mountings are designed to take impact forces in a preset direction eg. vertical direction for front body panels, to reduce injury to pedestrians. Each mounting has tags (4) (16) stamped into the body to form U-shaped grips for a metal plate (8) which takes the fitting fastener for the panel. The mountings are spaced the edge of the respective body panel. The tags are shaped to provide the correct level of support. The mounting plate has a central bore for the fastener, with the bore reinforced by ribs pressed into the plate. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple mounting of vehicle body panels, no need to weaken panel structure.
