The silage is collected from the field by a conventional pickup and hoisted to the top of the container (51) trailed behind the system. The top of the hoist (6) is fitted with a spreader comprising two conveyors moving over a plate mounting which pivots about a central axis. The spreader is operated by a reciprocating drive (61) attached to a point away from the pivot. The spreader conveyors move together along the mutual plane and downwards on the outside of the spreader. The silage is evenly layered into the container and is ready for drying. USE/ADVANTAGE - Even drying of silage, no additional levelling required.
