The components of an exposure station of a copier are contained within a housing. A mechanical scanning system scans an original document on a platen (50) to direct imaging rays on to an imaging element through a slot in the housing between light shield plates (25 and 26). A blower (20) has two sets of outlet louvres (21 and 23). Louvres (21) provide an airstream (58) to cool the optical components. Louvres (23) direct an airstream (59) on to a Coanda surface (24) and this surtace directs airstream (59) to the slot to cause air to flow out of the slot and thereby prevent the ingress of toner contaminated air. |
