PURPOSE:To dispense with the work requiring manual aid by using a rewritable storage medium as a storage and sending and storing a control program through a communication line. CONSTITUTION:A rewritable storage medium is used as a storage part (hard disk) 8 to store a control program sent through a communication line B. The storage part 8 stores a microprogram in its one part area 8a, and stores an update microprogram for rewriting in its other part area 8b. A facsimile equipment A stores picture data read by a reading section 3 temporarily in a picture memory 5 at the time of transmission. A control section 1 compresses the picture data to send it to the destination device A from a line section 2. At the time of reception, the control section 1 expands the picture data to output the result from a recording section 4. The control for these is performed by the control program stored in the area 8a, and when a memory 5 is changed, the program can be changed, resulting in dispensing with the work requiring time and manual aid.
