PURPOSE:To provide a lithium secondary battery ensuring high safety and allowing the discharge of a large amount of current, while using a solid containing lithium ions, or a solid electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:This battery uses a positive electrode comprising a mixture of a lithium thiolate compound having a sulfur-lithium bond to generate a sulfur- sulfur bond as a result of electrolytic oxidation, and conductive high polymer. Metal aluminum or a composite mainly composed of the alloy thereof and a carbon material is used as a negative electrode for the uniform deposition of lithium ions from the compound due to battery charging. Also, an electrolyte of lithium ionic conductivity in solid state or solid form in the normal battery service temperature range of -20 deg.C to 60 deg.C is used for an electrolyte, in order to fix the soluble lithium thiolate compound to the positive electrode. As a result, the battery can be safely assembled without any need to handle chemically active metal lithium or the alloy thereof during an assembly work. |
