PURPOSE:To proceed the service on the occurrence of a fault by providing 1st and 2nd optical switch means to the system, outputting a signal selected by the 2nd optical switch means to a relevant optical transmission line and outputting a signal from a prescribed optical transmission line to the optical transmission line of the 2nd optical switch. CONSTITUTION:An optical signal from an active optical transmission section 300 is sent to, e.g. a 3rd optical transmission line via a 1st optical switch means 110, a 2nd optical switch means 130 and an optical split section 150. An active optical reception section 300 of other equipment awaits an optical signal sent from the 3rd optical transmission line and a control section recognizes that the 3rd optical transmission line is interrupted because no signal is received and sends an alarm to one transmitter. The one transmitter receives the alarm and selects the means 130 to use 2nd and 4th optical transmission lines for the transmission reception of the optical signal. Since the 4th optical transmission line is normal, the optical communication service is continued. |
