PURPOSE:To provide an electrode material mainly composed of BCN (H) and a method for manufacturing the material. CONSTITUTION:An electrode material is mainly composed of BCN (H) available when a mixed gas of boron source gas, carbon source gas, nitrogen source gas and carrier gas are caused to react by the CVD method at a temperature of 500 deg.C or higher, and thermally treated for 0.1 hour or longer within the temperature range of 1200 to 1700 deg.C for obtaining a half-value width between 2.0 degrees and 4.5 degrees for the diffraction line of 2theta=24 to 26 degrees in an X-ray diffraction.
