A frequently reusable returnable plastic package for ready meals comprises a meal dish (1), a removable lid (2) and pushed-on clamping strips (3). The upper side (7) of the dish edge (6) and the underside (12) of the lid edge (11) are each designed flat. The lid edge (11) carries a flat seal all around it, which is made of permanently resilient plastic and is vulcanised on. The clamping strips (3) exhibit a horseshoe-shaped cross section and surround the dish edge (6) and the lid edge (11). The proposed returnable package represents an environmentally conscious alternative to the aluminium foil containers habitually used for the packaging of ready meals.
