<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently produce the VTR head cylinder of a clad composite system by fitting an extruded rod of a melt cast Al base alloy to an extruded pipe of a powder Al base alloy and subjecting the assembly to forging. CONSTITUTION:The extruded rod of the melt cast Al base alloy is fitted to the extruded pipe of the powder Al base alloy. The assembly is subjected to forging, by which the composite VTR head cylinder integrally molded with a drum body part 1 consisting of the melt cast Al base alloy and a tape sliding part 2 consisting of the powder Al base alloy is produced. The extruded pipe is formed by packing alloy powder consisting of 15-35wt.% Si, 0.5-6wt.% Cu, 0.3-5wt.% Mg and the balance Al into a container and subjecting the alloy powder to mandrel extrusion. The extruded rod is formed by hot extrusion of an alloy billet of an Al-Cu system, Al-Mg system or the like by a melt casting method. As a result, the VTR head cylinder having stable quality performance is inexpensively obtd. at a high yield.</p> |
