PURPOSE:To utilize effectively bottles in an aftertreatment apparatus and to prevent operational mistakes. CONSTITUTION:Sorter staplers 300a and 300b are connected with a copying machine 100 by two steps and the staplers 300a and 300b have bottles 304. A microprocessor designates the front bottle 304 in the second stage sorter stapler 300b with no remaining paper when there exist remaining papers in the first step sorter stapler 300a and a staple mode is set and an automatic paper selecting mode is not set and the size of a paper during the present copying is smaller than the remaining paper. It designates the front one of empty bottles 304 of the first step sorter stapler 300a when there exist no remaining paper in the first step sorter stapler 300a and a staple mode is not set and the size of a paper of the present copying is not smaller than the remaining papers.
