PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound useful as a component for a heatsensitive coloring layer of heat-sensitive recording paper, capable of preventing browning and void of recording image. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I (R<1> is H or methyl; R<2> is H, methyl, benzyloxycarbonyl or phenyl; R is group of formula II, formula III, etc.; bond with * mark is linked to phenyl) such as p-phenoxybenzoic acid phenylmethyl ester. The compound of formula I is obtained by directly esterifying a phenylmethyl alcohol of formula IV with a carboxylic acid of formula V. |
