PRODUCTION OF MULLITE-BASED CERAMIC SINTERED BODY

摘要

PURPOSE:To produce a dense mullite-based ceramic sintered compact having satisfactory pore distribution and low residual strain with low-cost starting materials and a mullite-contg. composite ceramic sintered compact contg. fibrous ceramic whiskers or porous ceramics. CONSTITUTION:Gel contg. a component forming mullite by firing is dehydrated by drying, densified by heating at 700-1,300 deg.C and further heated at a higher temp. to produce the objective mullite-based ceramic sintered compact. A mullite-contg. composite ceramic sintered compact is produced by applying the above-mentioned processes to fibrous ceramic whiskers or porous ceramics.
