PURPOSE:To obtain the end face working method and device for an optical fiber cable which improve the efficiency of thermal polishing of the end face of the optical fiber cable. CONSTITUTION:This device is constituted of a working base 10 having a polishing plate 10a, such as stainless steel plate, a blasting duct 9 for selectively blasting hot air and cold air to the rear surface of this polishing plate 10a, a cable fixing device 11 for fixing the end of the optical fiber cable 1 perpendicularly to the upper part of the polishing plate 10a, a perpendicular adjusting device 12 for adjusting this cable fixing device 11 to a perpendicular state and a cylinder for vertically moving the cable fixing device 11. The core part of the optical fiber cable 1 is pressed to the hot polishing plate 10a heated by the hot air from the blasting duct 9 and is dissolved. The core part is then pulled apart from the thermal polishing plate 10a cooled by the cold air from the blasting duct 9, by that, the square flat face is worked. |
