The coils of an electric motor (10) are supplied by a motor control stage (11) and the speed and position of the motor are determined by a sensor (12) coupled to a voltage regulator (13). The sensor may be optical, electrical, inductive, capacitive or magnetic. The regulator is coupled to a voltage supply stage (14). The regulator compares the actual speed with a reference and a regulating output is generated to adjust the control levels (A1-A3). Several motors can be supplied by the system. USE/ADVANTAGE - Reduces power losses. Used in video recorder systems.
