Releasable fastening devices for fixing a cover (2) to a secondary structure (1) of an aircraft each have a conically shaped plug (6) and cap (4). Ring formations (10,11) on the plug and cap respectively create a locking interengagement therebetween. A resilient sealing sleeve (8) surrounds the plug. The plug is made of a resilient material to allow deformation of the ring formations when the plug and cap are pressed together. The interlocking ring formations are of square or rectangular cross-section. A centralising pin (13) formed in the cap engages with a bore (14) in the plug. USE/ADVANTAGE - Low-cost fastening devices which cause less damage to structure during fixing.
