The portable computer has a display module (3) and keyboard (4) which can be taken out of the housing in which the central unit is accommodated. The display module is accommodated in a separate housing. The display module housing is designed that it can be erected or fixed in the taken out state. When the display module housing is built into the computer it forms a unit with the computer. ADVANTAGE - Can be operated as conventional lap top computer while having easy separation of operating and display unit from central unit for operation in vehicle.
