The gearbox uses fluid force. A twin fluid pump is made up from a sun wheel (1) and the two planetary wheels (3) of an epicyclic gearbox, the sun wheel being mounted on the driving shaft from the engine. The ring gear is coupled to the driven shaft (and therefore, the wheels of a car, for example). The sun wheel has centrifugal controllers (servomotors and electronics) which can open or close the throttle valves (4) in the fluid path in the housing of the planetary carrier. For engine idle, the valves are open. As the engine speed increases, the throttle openings are progressively closed and the planetary gears are forced to drive the sun gear around.
