PURPOSE:To keep the loss of an optical fiber in spinning the optical fiber so as not to almost depend on production condition. CONSTITUTION:The objective method for matching viscosity of an optical fiber is characterized by determining two kinds of dopant amounts [A] and [B] added to arbitrary two parts of the optical fiber so as to satisfy conditions of the formulas dlogetaA/d[A]=KAo and dlogetaB/d[B]=KBo, wherein kinds of dopant added so the core or the clad to form a waveguide structure in the optical fiber are defined as X, the difference in specific refractive index of a quartz containing the dopant from pure quartz is defined as [X], and at this time, two kinds of dopant for adding to arbitrary two parts of the optical fiber are each defined as A and B, and the amounts of A and B ([A] and [B]) are determined to match the viscosity of the optical fiber by satisfying the equations [A]-[B]=DELTAo and KA [A]=KBo wherein the difference in specific refractive indexes in the two parts for forming the waveguide structure is defined as DELTA. |
