PURPOSE:To provide a multicore fiber which can perform a power amplification and to provide its light amplifier. CONSTITUTION:In a rare-earth-element-added multicore fiber 1, a plurality of high-refractive-index cores 2 which contains rare-earth elements are installed inside a low-refractive-index clad 3. The rare-earth-element-added multicore fiber 1 is formed in such a way that the plurality of high-refractive-index cores 2 which contain the rare-earth elements are installed inside the low-refractive- index clad 3. In an optical-fiber amplifier, a light-wave divider which transmits a beam of excitation light into the fiber is connected to the input side of the core fiber 1 and a light star coupler is connected to the output side. |
