<p>A fire blanket (9) comprises a flexible substrate made, for example, from a woven glass fibre fabric (10) coated on both faces with a fire resistant coating (11). Each coating (11) comprises particles of cement, or plaster, or gypsum or sand embedded in an organic matrix of latex polymer. The preferred matrix is a cationic acrylic polymer latex which will cross-link under alkaline conditions. A method of manufacturing the fire blanket is also disclosed.</p> |
