The process serves for the pretreatment of both material streams for the purpose of further treatment in a biological final purification stage. The sodium hydroxide solution is first acidified with sulphuric acid to a pH between 3.0 and 7.0 and then, together with the NH3- and/or H2S-containing process effluents is subjected to NH3- and H2S-stripping. The vapours thus produced are further treated in a Claus apparatus, which is equipped with an NH3 cleavage catalyst, while the effluent flowing from the stripping column can be fed, after appropriate cooling, to the biological final purification stage. |
