A structural drainage box primarily for supporting and draining a plant growing medium. e.g. on a concrete roof, comprises a top panel 104 with drainage weep holes 102 and a frame 109 providing the sides of the box which are also formed with drainage weep holes 105. The top panel has a multiplicity of downwardly extending supporting struts 103 having the same height as the sides of the box. The box may include a base 110. In use the top panels of an array of the boxes are covered with a sheet of sponge material on which a growing medium for plants is spread. A means for irrigating the medium and flushing deposited mud from around and under the boxes is also described. <IMAGE> |
